Coaching

What is coaching? We at Change Creation believe it can be defined as follows:

‘A process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. It is help given by one person to another in making significant transactions in knowledge, behaviour or thinking’.

There are many definitions of coaching, however, at the heart of coaching is the idea that it is a form of intervention that is future focused, goal orientated, and concerned with enabling others to move forward more effectively than if they were doing this alone. To be a successful coach, an individual needs a variety of styles, skills and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place.

Our Coaching workshops have been developed over years of research and feedback, and we aim to continually improve and update them to meet the changing needs of organisations and their people. Our training is successful for many reasons, including the experience of the Facilitators, the quality of the materials, and the practical application and ease in using the relevant techniques.

Our workshops are tailored to the particular level and needs of the delegates to help them improve individual, team and operational performance, while aligning employee behaviours with strategic objectives.

Feedback

Employees and managers the world over often dread the annual ritual of performance reviews, as we have been institutionalised about the giving and receiving of feedback. We save up our comments and document all the things we note about a person’s performance. And then, like a big cat ready to pounce, the manager brings a hapless employee into the office and springs a year’s worth of “constructive criticism” onto him or her.

When given regularly throughout the year, in the right way and with the right intentions, feedback communication is the avenue to performance greatness. Employees have to know what they are doing well, and not so well, on a regular basis.

Giving feedback effectively is a skill. And like all skills, it takes practice to build confidence and improve. At Change Creation we have developed various techniques to help with those ‘difficult conversations’.
